NEED HELP FAST! LOTS OF ALGAE

Postby johntpuckett » Mon 10 Jul, 2006 12:51

We have been trying to get our pool water blue since the spring when we filled it back up. It is an inground concrete pool. The water is always a brown or dark green color, we tried everything. We even got a new pump. Also. Will covering the pool help prevent algae?

Sounds like you need to shock the heck out of it. What is your chlorine level? What is your pH and hardness level? You need to bring that water in and have it tested professionally. Yes, if you winterize your pool and then cover it, this situation may have been avoided. One year, I didn't feel like covering the pool for the winter and I regretted it. Last year, I winterized and covered the pool. This spring, I removed the cover to find crystal clear water and when tested, it was cold but ready for a swim!
