Too much DE in pool

Postby SL Dan » Thu 10 May, 2018 19:23

A few weeks ago I cleaned my filter, and must have put in too much DE. I can't get it out of the pool.

Today I resolved to start at 0 again; I opened the filter and what do you know? Hardly any DE in the filter.

The grids are newish (less than a year) and fine. I'm currently running the filter and have NOT put in any DE, thinking that this might be the best way to achieve proper filtration.

Am I thinking correctly?

Many thanks.

Vacuum the DE out and via the skimmer vac plate it will re coat the grids.
When you get bored with DE or skint, whichever comes first switch to a sand filter with "Activate" AFM, Dr Dryden's glass filter media.

DE is fine silica and nasty unsafe stuff to have in your pool.

Thanks for responding. I'm in Los Angeles, and I've emailed Dryden Aqua to learn about what they're doing and find out if there's anyone who provides it around me.
