Pool pump very noisy

Postby KemerCaz » Sat 20 Feb, 2021 13:45

Please help.
My husband just backwashed and rinsed our pool and then reset all the valves for normal running. He forgot to set the multi port valve back to ‘filter’. When the pump started on timer the pump started making a loud rattling noise as though there were loose stones inside. What can we do, if nothing, to put it right please?

Thank you.

It could be the sound of cavitation due to low water. Switch it back to filter, open the air bleed on the filter and make sure the pump pre filter basket is full of water. Then re start the pump the rattling should stop after a minute or two.
