My Pool: My swimming pool is about 23,000 gallons with attached hot tub. I have a single faze pentair motor. With a Jandy electronic system. My question is. I want to switch over to a variable speed motor. I have a 2.0 HP 230/115v SF 1.10. Do I buy a 1.5 HP or a 3 HP?

Thank you
Greg

Upgrading pool pump question.

Hey there, Looking for any help i can get. I have a 23,000 gallon pool with attached hot tub. 25 years old. The pentair pump is a 2.0 HP single stage pump. I want to switch to a variable speed pump. Can i run a 1.5 HP or should I get 3.0 HP? I am a newbie pool owner but pretty handy. My pool also has a Jandy electrical box and valves.

Thank you
Greg

Need more information, what size and type of filtration do you have? That has the biggest effect on the flow you will get and therefore if you are wasting money.

I have a St-Rite S8M150 filteration system, I also have a Jandy Aqua link system with a Pool Pilot Salt generator.

Thank you for any help you can give me.

The intermatic is a drop in replacement, but will not work with a variable speed pump, as all it does it simply cut power to turn on and off. I have it for my single speed pump and it works great, now thinking about upgrading the pump and would like a different solution.
