Well, it looks like they all piled up at once, the last thing to be sorted today is the tank filter, as I previously mentioned, the one that gave the dirty oil problem had collapded and was covered in gunk, phoning around I found that paper filter units were no longer made, I was advised the change to the newer units with nylon washable filters, but luckily, a tank supplier still had some paper ones in stock, so that's all sorted, at least the pool is now in use after many weeks of the summer (if you can call it that) being un-heated.

All done as mentioned in a previous post.

Now if only there was a way of fixing a sunken and tiled up to hot tub leak without having to remove it out of the ground, BTW. Fixaleak only works for a couple of days!

Just wondering, as I can't get anyone to lift the hot tub out to fix the leak, with the pump/motor unit removed, (brown cover on floor in front of tub) would it be possible for me, my son and two friends to actually lift the tub out, of course, the side tiles would be removed and handles fitted to the wooden panels underneath.

Lovely pool set up
Seems like a job and half. Can you get an idea of the weight
It's got to come out so give it a try

Thanks Dennis, it was all put together about twenty years ago, there's a fan radiator unit out of sight on the left of the patio doors and another one at the far end of the pool.
I'm getting a weight of around 675 lbs. I don't know if this includes the pump/motor unit, but I assume so.

That's heavy about 6 cwt, whats the construction and does that include water
I would be inclined to take the tiling down around the tub and investigate. You may not have to remove it

That's without water.
Underneath the tiles are wooden panels, right around, but these panels go down to the base, behind the panels is insulation so, they would need to by cut and removed, then the insulation would need to be dug out. If the tub could be removed and tipped on it's side the blue dye that I added to the water would possibly be seen on the insulation pointing to the leak area, but....lifting it out, I seem to remember it was put in with straps to lower it, but not by me!

Baring in mind how far the tub is sunk and four people lifting 1 1/4 cwt each would be difficult
Interested in seeing the result

It might be an idea to jack up with a lever and fulcrom, support it and then go again
That is if the body of the hot tub is strong enough

Looks good in theory, but not practical as there's not really anywhere to support the weight after each jackup and the jackup is only possible with one side.
The space between the tub and the glass partition on the other side is only about ten inches.
What I need is a sky hook :)

We all need sky hooks. Whoever designs one will make a fortune
You could take the glass out of the partition
Once it's jacked up put some bearers there to take the weight, then jack it higher
I think the best way forward is to take the surround apart and just see what you have to work with. If there are any lifting points you could build a scaffold with winches and just lift it up
Just some ideas, I dare say you will find a way

The main problem with that is, each side would need to be jacked. Up in stages and supported at each operation, it's not really possible to add supports, they would need to be under the lip of the casting, the edge of the floor tiles directly beneath are not on solid ground, i.e. The hole that the tub sits in is wider than the tub by a few inches so the tile edges are over an inch with no support, putting any weight on this would just crack them.

The plumbing of these tubs is like a pigs guts and set with foam insulation so the other method of cutting the panels away and digging out that insulation "could" find the leak....but it could be below ground level and impossible to get at with the tub in situ :?

Sorry, but there's more cons to this than pro's !
