Liner with holes - replace with tiles?

Postby beanPoolOwner » Sun 26 Sep, 2021 03:50

Hi all,

holes are starting to appear in the liner at the bottom of my pool. There are two areas where the liner has wrinkles/folds, and some holes appear alongside it.

I have maybe about 8 holes in total.

The liner is about 5 years old.

I have been patching the holes with some liner repair kit (a piece of plastic and waterproof glue). However, I am thinking that might not be sustainable?

I was thinking of removing the liner, and replacing it with tiles. I have a builder that will do this. However, from what I read on the internet, it is unclear that all liner pool can be tiled. Maybe it's because the walls of the pool need to be concrete to have tiles on them?

Is there anyway for me to know if the walls of my pool are steel or concrete, without removing the liner?

I think you would need to lift part of your decking and have a look
Do the walls seem hollow when you tap them

A magnet?
Liner pool fittings are not always compatible so may need changing. Alternatively look at the 1.5-2mm armoured liner fitted on site.
I may not give you the answer you want to hear, but I will give an honest opinion of your situation as you decribe it.
