vaccuming the pool

I am getting ready to vaccum for the first time-I know I have to hook
up hose in the skimmer but dont remember how to set the pump

What kind of pool is this above-ground or in-ground?
what kind of filter, sand filter, cartridge, DE?
Does it have a multiport valve?
If it has MPV you move handle clockwise to waste when vacuuming pool.
remember you prime hose by adding water inside it so pump stays primed and attach to skimmer.
