First time pool owner and first post...
With the last few cold fronts that have blown through here in Houston (even snowed one day) our in ground pool is losing a couple of inches per day. It's around 27,000 gallons and this seems way excessive. I asked my buddy about it, who builds pools, and he said if the water is steaming in the mornings, which it is, then it very well could lose that much in a 24 hour period. The temps drop into the high 30's at night and then it's full sun, 70 and breezy during the days.
What are you guys thoughts?

Hi cdill35, I would try a bucket test, fill a bucket, mark the level, stand it on a step of the pool and see if it goes down by a similar amount. Please come back and let us know.

Discovered and repaired cracking grout at both skimmers.

That's good you found it, was there much water around the skimmers as a clue?

Pressure tested the system first. All good. Then he used some dye through a syringe and we watched it suck through the grout in a few areas, in both skimmers. $12 tube of pool putty, patched it up and haven't had to add water since.
