Automatic pool cover problem

Postby rvawter » Mon 11 Jun, 2012 00:22

I have an automatic pool cover that has developed a bad smell.

The part of the cover that never sees the light of day (part left on spool when pool is fully covered) has Algae growing on it. It is the part of the cover next to the spool so it is very hard to get to. I have inserted a hose from a power washer (without spray gun attached) and down the entire lenght of the cover still on the spool and flooded it with clorine three times. There is still an oder (not as bad as before) coming from the cover.

So short of removing the cover from the spool what should I do?

Thanks
