Hi,
I'm relatively new to the pool scene having just moved into a new house with an in-ground pool. For the first couple of weeks the system was running fine (despite there being air bubbles coming through the jets). However in the past week, whenever the filter is on (Hayward ProGrid DE4820) the jets have no power whatsoever. When I set the pool to recirculate however the jets are back to full power, which makes me think there is a problem with the filter. This has led to the pool turning green with algae.
I know this may not be very clear and I'll try and answer any questions, any help would be appreciated!
Thanks

Re: Help! Filter Problems!
You are sucking in air on the suction side of the pump. Check for loose connections and lubricate the pump basket lid "O" ring with silicon grease. Check the water level at the skimmer it should be about 2/3 of the way up.
When you recirculate do the air bubbles stop
If you have algae you need to Slam follow it exactly how it says

Re: Help! Filter Problems!
Recirculating won't cause algae but low chlorine will
How are you testing?
Can you post you numbers back here?

Re: Help! Filter Problems!
I've tried the silicon grease on the O-ring and I can't find any air leaks -the jets still lose pressure. The pressure on the filter starts off at ~8psi with the jets going strong and then rises to ~20psi where they become very weak. When I recirculate I still have air bubbles however the jets are strong.
Re: Help! Filter Problems!
pH - 7.6
Free chlorine - 6.6 (started shocking the pool to remove the algae)
CC - 0
Total alkalinity - 90
CYA - <30
I use Taylor Complete FAS-DPD chlorine test kit
