Pool maintenance over extended time (vacation home)

Postby TexasLady » Sat 08 Apr, 2017 18:30

Hello all,

Searching the internet trying to find an answer to this..... We have a property that we visit on the weekends that will ultimately be our retirement home. We would like to install a pool now for our teenagers (and us) to enjoy even though we aren't there full time yet.

Generally, we are there every weekend or two. Can we realistically have a pool and properly maintain it not being there all the time? It's a very rural property so hiring a pool service is not an option.

Thank you for any advice!

Laura

Hi Laura
Once you get your levels right I would suggest a salt water chlorine generator (SWCG) with automation
You would need to find the best setting for it to produce sufficient chlorine while you are not there to prevent an algae bloom. Avoid water falls and anything that aerates your water as that will cause your pH to rise constantly
