Didn't open pool this year help

The kids have gotten older and are not using the pool so we did not use it this year. We had it closed professional last year and have been pumping off the cover all summer. The water below is awful. Should we drain in and refill half way or just put chemicals in. We are at a loss

Draining half way is often a good idea for really poor water. But All water can be treated and fixed with good products.

I would get it tested to see what your balance looks like first and if it is out, I would drain half.
