Cartridge Filter Pressure jumped 10 PSI from normal reading

Postby mikeboss » Fri 31 Mar, 2006 09:01

I have a American Products(Pentair) Clean & Clear Plus Cartridge filter system. It is about 8 years old. It has always ran around 10 PSI.

I take the 4 filters out monthly and clean them with a garden hose.

Recently, the pressure has risen up to 18 PSI, and the filters are clean.

I am trying to figure out what would cause this ?

Cartridge filter help

It could be something on the return line - perhaps a blocked jet or something lodged in the pipe. Is the water flow reduced? This would indicate some sort of obstruction.

The maximum working pressure for the filter is 50 PSI and Pentair recommend that you
Clean your filter when pressure reads between 8-10 p.s.i. higher than the original starting pressure.

How old are the cartridges? Could they be the problem?

high filter pressure

I recently experienced a similar problem with my filter pressure . I went through each section of the system looking for some restriction until I found some electrical tape that had ended up trapped against the salt water generater, my pressure had gone from 18 to 35 after I had cleaned my filters.Do a little looking and you might find it.
