Should I remove the filter cartridge before I vacuum to waste?

When you set your multiport valve to waste water doesnt even flow through the filter.

OK thanks. But when I shift it from Filter to wate, I get zero suction from my vaccum (attached to the skimmer). maybe I'm missing something?

do you have a drain valve, if it is closed you will not get any flow, also you are shutting the pump off when you move the dial valve right?

Vac to Waste

Postby debdionna » Sat 16 Aug, 2008 17:09

So do I always vac to waste? What do I set my skimmers at? 1 on and 1 off?

Also if I vac to filter do I need to clean the filter every time I vac the pool? Seems like it would clog the filter cartridges with all the algea and debris??

Thanks!

You dont have to always vacuum to waste. If you want to save water you vacuum in filter mode and then clean the filter when the pressure goes up or the suction becomes bad. Whichever skimmer your vacuum is hooked up to should be on and the other skimmer and main drain should be off.
