Chlorine reading problem

Any help would be appreciated. My PH is correct in my above ground pool but no matter how much chlorine i put in the pool wnen I test the water it gives me a negative reading on chlorine or shows very little chlorine in the water. My pool also had a hazy almost milky color to it for a few days which is know starting to clear up......Thanks in advance
