The manual for my Pentair FNSP60 says to put in 6 lbs of DE after removing and cleaning filters. If all I do is a backwash, do I still put in 6 lbs? I thought the guy who did my setup said to only put in a percentage if I only do a backwash. Help please?

The figure I have always seen is 80% of the normal DE after a backwash.
It is really a guessing game though. You could BW and then open up the filter and look at the grids and judge from there how clean you got them.
