Loosing Stabilizer

Continuously need to add Chlorine to pool, pool service guys also says he adds tons of stabilizer.....he says it is because we have a leak in the pool and the automatic pool filer keeps adding fresh water.....has anyone experienced this, or had other reasons for need to add more and more chlorine and stabilzer?
