When the bottom of the pool feels like you're at the beach..

A small amount of sand shoots into my pool each time the pump is started. I was told to replace the spring in the handle of the filter--it didn't help. I checked the laterals when replacing the sand this year--no problem there. Any ideas?

If the sand is shooting back after backwash, set the dial valve to rinse for 20 or 30 seconds. This helps to clean any sand that may have gotten into the valve ports during the perculation process of the backwash.
