sand in bottom of pool?

Postby irishsph » Sat 12 Jun, 2010 14:24

Every time my filter is running I notice I am getting a lot of sand on the bottom of my pool. Can anyone tell me what this is indicative of? What is the fix?
Thanks!

sand in bottom of pool?

Postby SPMG » Wed 08 Jun, 2011 09:54

Hello from Spain,

This can be one of 2 things.

If the sand settles on the floor of the pool it is because one or more of your laterals is damaged and passing sand (or the breather pipe inside the filter is broken).
If it is finer sand, all over the pool, it means that there is a fault with the filter itself; either worn laterals or insufficient depth of sand in the filter.

Nothing lasts forever and the filter should be emptied and re-filled with new media every 4 years.

See how to do this here
