Can use bromine wint PW?

Postby Guest » Wed 19 Apr, 2006 13:16

Was just reading about Nature2, which says it can not be used with bromine. How about the PoolWizard? I have about a season's supply of bromine left and would hate to have to throw it out.

Unfortunately the Pool Wizard cannot be used with bromine or biguanides.

What would happen?

So what would happen if there's bromine in the water?

Bromine and the Pool Wizard

Postby Larry » Tue 25 Apr, 2006 14:33

The active bromine, or hypobromous acid, is an extremely aggressive molecule and is capable of breaking down the complexes that keep the minerals stable.

In field tests the mineral complexes were only affected some of the time and only in some pools, but due to the unpredictability and risk involved we have chosen never to recommend the use of the Pool Wizard with brominated products.
