IRON IN WELL WATER BAD FOR SALTWATER GENERATOR?

Postby zash008 » Sat 04 Jul, 2009 12:18

I heard that iron which I know is present in my well water will degrade the saltwater generator.
IS THIS TRUE?
if so, what do I add to eliminate or bind up the iron?
if I do add something for this, do I have to constantly add this to the water?
I KNOW NOTHING.... I AM JUST BEGINNING DOWN THIS SWIMMING POOL ADVENTURE.
JUST SET THE POOL UP AND FILLED. GOT PUMP RUNNING NOW.
This seems to be a great site.

need to get a metal out product and use it with each top up of the pool water.

initially the iron can be 'rusted' out by adding lots of chlorine and then vacuuming the rust as it settles.
