How to test for TA

Postby diane_17 » Mon 06 May, 2013 14:57

I am using HydroPro delux pool test kit. I don't understand hot to measure the TA. It tells me that if I use Trichlor Tablets (I am using Trichlor pucks so I assume that it is the same thing), that my TA should be between 120 and 140 ppm. The instructions for testing TA tell me to fill the vial to half and add the neutralizer. Then add 1 drop of the blue solution (#5) and mix. Then add drops of the clear solution (#3) and count how many drops it take until the water turns either clear or a light yellow. It took 6 drops of the #3 solution for my water to turn a pale yellow. So I X by 6 and get 60, So does that mean that my TA is 60 ppm and I need to raise it by doubling it to 120 ppm using baking soda (sodium bicarbonate)?
Thanks for your help.
