ph of 5
ph of 5
yesterday i tested my ph and alkalinity my ph was 4.7 and alakalinity 100mv so i poured some swimming pool product so the ph goes up and added chlorine tablets in the evening the ph was 5.5 but in the mourning it went down to 5 and my alkalinity was 700mv how does this happen ? and how am i supposed to raise my very low ph level
Re: ph of 5
that moment u find out chlorine tablets are acidic -_-
Re: ph of 5
if my cyanuric acid level is already high will it stabilize my unstabilized chlorine so i can just use liquid chlorine ?

If your CYA is to high you will need to do a partial drain and refill
For every 10 ppm Free Chlorine (FC) added by Trichlor, it also increases Cyanuric Acid (CYA) by 6 ppm.
For every 10 ppm FC added by Dichlor, it also increases CYA by 9 ppm.
For every 10 ppm FC added by Cal-Hypo, it also increases Calcium Hardness (CH) by at least 7 ppm
Use these common products to balance your pool
Liquid chlorine (sodium hypochlorite or plain bleach)
Muriatic acid (hydrochloric acid) to lower pH and TA
Bicarbonate of soda to raise TA
Aeration will raise pH only
Soda ash will raise pH and TA
Chlorine / CYA Chart
Recommended Pool Levels
Re: ph of 5
I poured soda ash in and nothing happend infact the alkalinity and ph slowly lower

Re: ph of 5
after a long wait i finnally received mt test kits.
only the total hardness and cyanuric acid where clearly above lowest value
i will provide pictures so you can look at it too
FC: 1
TC: very unclear to see
pH: 6.2 (or under)
TA: arround 0
CH: 50-100
CYA: 150
My pool: 4mx7.20m depth 1m-1.3m build in (walls are made off some type of plastic)
Pool chemicals: i used to use alot of these tablets but they apperantly contain cya
My pump & filter: dont know exactly what but its a sand filter
i made a picture with a gyazo link cause my image was "too large"

Re: ph of 5
You really need to get yourself a decent FAS/DPD test kit (Taylor K2006c or TF Testkits TF100 in the states) to get accurate results as maintaining an appropiate shock level means testing quite often during the day
With a CYA of 150 you need to drain 2/3 of you water and refill to get CYA to 50
I suspect you have combined chlorine and need to Slam (Shock Level and Maintain) with relation to Chlorine / CYA Chart and Recommended Pool Levels
