ZERO Chlorine

Postby WDWgoofy » Sat 08 Jun, 2013 13:12

I have reviewed older posts but still do not know what to do to get my pool to register any chlorine.

The pool is 15 years old with original plaster. The pool surface is rough and needs to be resurfaced, but cannot afford.

For more than a 5 weeks my pool has had ZERO chlorine (both free and and total available). Over this period, I have shocked repeatedly. Last week I drained 2 ft of water and added 2 lbs of crushed chlorine tablet (AKA Spot-kill). Yesterday (June 7) iI again added 2 lbs of crushed chlorine tablet.

My water analysis results from today (June 8):
Free available chlorine (FAC) ---- zero
Total available chlorine (TAC) -- zero
Calcium hardness ------------------ 260
Cyanuric Acid (CYA) -------------- 115
Total Alkalinity -------------------- 150
pH ----------------------------------- 7.4
Copper ------------------------------ zero
Total dissolved solids ------------- 1000
Phosphates ------------------------- 200

At this time, two different pool stores have stated the only option is to drain water.

Since doing this last week was unsuccessful, I have no interest in repeating this failed action.

Please provide your insight.

At this time I am strong considering swimming pool removal as a better options than resurfacing.
