Pool smell is like strong chlorine

Postby Majid » Mon 07 Aug, 2017 14:19

Hi,

My pool smell is like strong chlorine and whenever I enter the swimming pool room I feel my eyes are burning.

What could be the reason? After some online research it seems like it is contaminated with urine or organic matter.

In case it is contaminated with urine, how to get rid of it or how to treat the pool in this case?

I am beginner and hence looking for your help.
I am having indoor (underground) swimming pool.
Type is Desjoyaux pool system https://desjoyauxpools.com/

It seems you have chloramines/combined chlorine and you will need to Slam Shock Level and Maintain
You will have to check your Chlorine / CYA Chart with relation to your recommended Pool Levels
Check out
Pool School
Pool Maths
You would also need a decent test kit to do your own frequent testing, many times whilst maintaining shock levels

I agree with you Dennis. You need a decent test for your pool Majid.

This is usually an indication that the water in your pool is not in correct balance state. You may have a little higher than normal levels of chloramine. It is what gives off that smell as well as are the reason behind eye and skin irritation.
