Using solar salt in chlorine pool

Postby hamelfire » Mon 13 Aug, 2018 07:19

Hello all, new user and first time poster so please be gentle.
I have an easy set 15 ft pool 2000 gallon, with a 10 inch sand filter. My water is clear and chemicals are all within range. The water is leaving skin dry. My question is can I use a small amount of solar salt to help reduce this? If so how much and how should I go about this?
My thought is 1 gallon pail with a few handfuls of salt or sock full.
I know I need to get a salt tester first and see where I'm at first. I also know to get 99. % clean solar salt.
Also are the pellets better than ground salt for this?
Thank you in adavace.

If you use liquid chlorine (sodium hypochlorite or plain bleach) you will introduce salt without having to add it
The salt should be fine so that it would dissolve easily
You would have to test but a level of 3000ppm which is what most SWCG require would be ideal
