Need help cleaning black granite

Postby shane_rubin_2000 » Sat 04 Mar, 2017 13:25

I can't find a way to clean the white foggy look from the surface of my black granite pool. It looks fine when water is rolling over but when it dries, it looks horrible. I'm not looking for a perfect glossy finish, although that would be nice. Acid works on the large white build up in the grout but not on the haze. How long have you had the pool and when did the foggy stain occur
Is it all over or in selected spots
It looks like calcium acid should work on it, what acid and strength are you using
I'm wondering if the granite has been etched

We just moved in 8 months ago and its been like this the entire time. It's also our first pool so we're newbies when it comes to these matters. We've been using a 1 to 4 diluted muriatic acid on the calcification build up.

Can you actually scrape off any of the stain
The fact that acid works on the grout and not the granite makes me think it could be etched
When water is flowing over it looks OK so there can't be any buildup of calcium which you would still see
Can you try a Granite polish to restore the smooth finish

A full set of levels would help see if the water is balanced
