increasing total hardness

Postby jemae » Sun 30 Mar, 2008 10:33

hi, my inground concrete pool total hardness reading is only around 80 to 100. I read somewhere to raise total hardness, i need to add calcium chloride. pool store is not common where i live, anything of the supermarket shelf i can use.

anyway, should i be concern about low total hardness? start seeing light black stain inside the skimmer and the cartridge filter.

thanks

I would suggest ordering some hardness increaser on line, you should be between 150-400 so water is not corrisive to your pool & equipment.
