Wtf pink calcium?

Postby Lawlocaust » Fri 09 May, 2008 21:04

I live in columbia, SC and work for a local pool company. We have recently come in contact with some kind of pink calcium buildup on one of our plaster pools. I took a few samples of this pink substance to be tested, and when i scrape it off it flakes and doesnt chip into large pieces. Its on the steps and floor of the pool around both of the main drains.

The chemicals have been in great shape, calcium between 150-300 ppm, so until the samples come back im left scratching my head.. If anyone has info on this it would be great.

Scale can occur even at normal Calcium Hardness levels if the TA and pH are high. However, scale is usually white or grayish and I've never heard it being pink. I'm sorry I can't help you out more.

By the way, a better pool forum to use is TroubleFreePool so I suggest posting your question over there since perhaps someone knows about this.
