How to Open up our Salt Regenerator Pool???

We just installed a salt regenerator pool late last summer---our first pool ever. Now it is time to "open" the pool for the summer. I never received an instruction book. We did receive extremely rapid instructions from the installer (we tried to take notes), but now have no clue what to do.
We have reduced the water level to below the jets, so that we can take out the plugs and then reinstall the jet things.
Don't know what to do with the backwash, filter, drain, chemicals, etc...
I know that the installer will "open" the pool for $320----but I am determined not to spend that amount of money every year. I feel that we can handle this if only we knew what to do.
Can anyone connect me with a source of step-by-step instructions on how to proceed???
