White flakes

Postby Kiish » Thu 20 Nov, 2008 19:04

I've established that the flakes in my pool are calcium deposits, and ive also established how to stop the problem 9by lowering the TA but will this remove the current flakes in the pool?

At the moment the pool is covered in flakes and turning any of the jets on just makes it worse

Thanks for your help

You either have to filter out or scoop out the current flakes or you can try lowering the combination of pH, TA and CH -- pH is easiest to lower -- which may redissolve the flakes. Don't go too low in pH, but a short time at 7.0-7.2 isn't going to hurt and may help redissolve them. You lower the TA by following the procedure described here or here.

The white flakes, as expressed above, are in all likelihood calcium dropping out of arrangement. Test your aggregate alkalinity and pH, either of these are Above Ideal Range. Include muriatic corrosive as required in light of your pool estimate. To the extent water shape, this regularly looks equivalent to destroyed tissue paper drifting in water and gathers in the skimmer container. Cleanse by Natural Chemisty and high measurement stun can help take out water shape. Catch up with cleaning channel media.
