Heat Exchanger

Last year in my indoor pool I had a six feet radius brown metal stain, I used stain remover and it completely disappeared, then a few days later it came back throughout the pool, I tried many times to get rid of it with many phonecalls to the stain removal companies owner, but it's still there a year later, I'm told that it's probably the heat converter which is now seventeen years old.

I have just had a new one delivered but yet to be fitted, I was just wondering if other forum members have had the same problem with heat exchangers?

These are NOT stain removers they are sequestrants they remove nothing just bind it for a while, one of the pool industries greatest lies!
What's your heat exchanger made of?

Stainless steel.

Even stainless steel can suffer with chlorinated water. Titanium is better then cupro-nickel and finally SS but that shouldn't be used if it's a saltwater pool.
