Can I leave a solar cover under the winter coner?

Postby RGH » Sun 17 Aug, 2008 08:59

It seems that I am always pumping out pool water whenever I pump off water off of the winter cover every spring even with new winter covers due to stretching. I have a 30 foot round above ground and never use the solar cover because it is hard to manage due to the pool size. I thought if I could leave the solar cover as a barrier, this might make opening the pool less of a hassle in the spring. Any thoughts?

Most of the solar pool cover manufacturers recommended removing the solar cover when the pool is superchlorinated or shocked, because the chlorine will deteriorate the cover. With that said, I would think when winterizing, the increase in chlorine during winterization would no be good!

I'm going to try putting the solar cover on after the non-chlorinated winterizing chemicals and then the winter cover. Hope it works well!
