Filter pressure to high

Postby Murlsketeer » Mon 05 Jun, 2023 19:37

Hello,

After opening our pool up for the year the filter pressure is reading 8 PSI higher than normal causing the gage to split the line from green to red. Normally the pressure is 12 PSI, but is now 20 PSI. I have checked all the lines for obstructions, replaced the sand, and cleaned the strainer baskets. Our setup has not changed since last year and am at a loss of why the added PSI. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is the pressure change after the sand change?
A bit more about your pump, filter and plumbing size would help.
I may not give you the answer you want to hear, but I will give an honest opinion of your situation as you decribe it.

Normally when the bourdon tube leaks the pressure reading goes down.
A leaking tube will not straighten to produce a reading. The thin bourdon tubes do not last forever in the clorinated/salt water no matter where it is manufactured, oil filled gauges can last longer.
