Pressure gauge is running high (22) do I need new sand?

Postby Randi515 » Sun 13 Apr, 2008 16:00

The pressure gauge on my filter is showing 22, where it usally runs at 12. I've backwashed it 5 times and my water is clear. Do I need new sand? This is the fourth year of operation. I have a Hayworth Sand Filter.

You shouldnt need new sand. Make sure all your valves are open and nothing is obstructing the flow after the filter. Also try using a sand filter cleaner and degreaser and follow the instructions. Make sure it removes grease and scale build up.
