Closing pool for a year or more??

Postby Stumann » Thu 24 Jul, 2008 05:27

We are in a financial situation that we can no longer afford to maintain our pool. We have 35,000 gallon in ground pool that, with rising cost of chemicals and electricity, costs several hundred dollars a month to maintain. I would like to close the pool somwhat permanantly (a few years perhaps). Is this possible? What can be done that would not ruin the pool for future use? Would I have to fill it with sand or gravel?

I closed our pool for over a year and it's 38,000 gallons. Opened it this year and yes it was very dirty but came back clear and you never would have known it was closed that long.

Hope this helps.
