air pillows deflated water frozen

Postby cwc0139 » Mon 24 Nov, 2008 19:48

my pillows deflated and before I was able to get them out to reinflate the water on the cover has frozen. The water inside the pool along the edge is also frozen but not the middle. What can I do?

The Sacrificial lamb

Postby Mikekim » Wed 04 Feb, 2009 17:47

To be honest, i've heard from lots of people why to use air pillows, and the reason makes sense (absorb pressure created by pool water freezing and expanding) - but i've never used them, and have never had any trouble with my pool. They're like sacrificial lambs that don't need to be sacrificed. My pools up in chicago-town area, so it definitely gets pretty cold up here.

I'd question if it 'deflated' or if it just plain popped, since generally you put it underneath the cover and can't see it, but either way I don't think it will matter. It either served it's purpose (popped), or you probably didn't need it if it just deflated.
