Torn pool cover

[New boy to pools]

I am trying to pump the water off of my pool cover to open it for the season. I have a vinyl inground pool and the water level on the cover is not going down, the water level of the whole pool is going down. I think that there is a hole in my cover but I can't see it. How can I get the cover off of my pool without draining all the water?

If you can find the tear - you could try putting an inflatable pillow near it to get the hole above the water. You could also partially remove the cover and force the water to a side that does not have the tear.

The only other thing I can think of is to remove as much dirt and leaves as possible, untie it and pull it out.

Its going to be a mess either way.
