What can I do if I added too much SHOCK-IT initially? Must it be totally drained now?

Are there ingredients listed on Shock-It? I can't find that product -- do you have a link to it online? Most likely, it's either chlorine or a non-chlorine shock and no, you do not need to drain your pool. It should dissipate over time. Worst case, you can get a chlorine neutralizer, but should just test the chlorine level to see how high it is.

Probably HTH "Sock-it".
You can use chlorine neutralizer if necessary.
