Counter fall over night ? Salt for Cows

Postby Nell » Fri 25 Jan, 2019 23:14

Hallo, nice to be here!
My 16 000 Gallen Pool Generator is every night fellowing down. Had some problems, the lamp "inspect cell" was shining always, also without cell problems. Then i changed the little spot how messer the chloride, but sence then the counter still fellow at night (from 3400 to 900)
Also the original salt is very expensive here in Costa Roca, so i use salt for cows.
Could this be the problem?
(Sorry my english, not my original language)

Sorry not sure I understand every word either but salt for water softners is OK.
The cell can get dirty and need cleaning in mild acid.
Have you some water test results?

Thanks for your answer, Teapot!

The Cell is ok, was always also with the light.... The Test shows less Cyauric Acid, Alkalinidity an PH.
Gott to know i can use every salt!

If I understand you, your cyanuric acid level is low, if that is the case then stabilised pool salt should be used to get the level up.
How are you measuring, dip strips cannot accurately measure cyanuric acid, you may get a colour change but it won't be accurate. Cyanuric acid is the most important test and chemical in your pool, it controls everything.

Thanks Teapot, i think that's it, so helpful! I always thought, it's hanging with changing the salt....

So this Cyanuric Acid is not possible to buy extra?

Yes you can buy extra, as cyanuric acid or stabiliser. You need to be able to test the level accurately so dip strips are a no no. Vanishing dot type testers are cheap and effective.
