Adding vs pump and Hayward AquaRite salt system

Postby flboy » Fri 10 Mar, 2023 11:36

Going back to a salt system and upgrading my pump to a variable speed. A question on AquaRite wiring. Instructions say unit MUST only have power when the timer is energizing the pump! With a variable speed, there is power to the pump even while it is off! So are we then relying on the flow switch to control the salt cell’s operation?

Yes I would think so, its a problem I encountered going to low energy pool filtration, some equipment uses pressure switches and those had to be changed to flow switches. Filtration cycle runs at less than 1PSI with the pump slowed down but still achieves 4 turnovers in 24 hours. That uses less electricity than a conventional single speed pump would use in just 2 hours so big savings and better filtration
I may not give you the answer you want to hear, but I will give an honest opinion of your situation as you decribe it.
