Water Bugs in Skimmer

Postby Paul0071 » Tue 02 Sep, 2008 18:23

I live in Canada and I just had an Aqua Rite chlorinization system installed and I'm getting water bugs in my skimmer. These aren't toe-biters or anything nasty, but they're fairly large (by Canadian standards) and ugly. I was thinking of floating a chlorine puck in the skimmer as they don't seem to like chlorine but I was wondering how this would affect this $2000 system I had installed.

Any advice on how to get rid of these things once and for all would be appreciated.

the problem with pucks is that they add CYA to your pool.
the higher your CYA level is, the more chlorine you need for effective sanitation

you can do it, but measure your CYA level first, and make sure you don't do it for long

recommended CYA level with SWG's is around 60-80ppm
