Hi I'm new , I have a 12x36 1,779 gallon pool. I bought a SWG with a built in 2000 gallon filter. My problem is that when I try to adjust the PH and put in baking soda that the high salt alarm goes off. Also when I tested it through the aqua chem test kit with the droppers it tells me that everything is fine, when I used a strip it said there was no chlorine and the PH was off the chart. After the saltwater cycle the chlorine is usually a little high. Is this normal or I do have too much salt?? I can go without running it for a day and its right on the money. So my two questions are : can putting in baking soda to up my PH affect the high salt alarm??
Which of the two test kits are the most accurate, the strips or the dropper??
High salt alarm
High salt alarm
I have found out that baking soda actually raises the ph level you need to add ph minus. Take a water sample to your neighborhood pool place and they can tell you exactly what you need to add to bring down the levels
