Hello I'm a new pool owner and I was wondering if 3inch chlorine tabs are good for liquid chlorine substitute.

No, they add Cyanuric acid in as a stabiliser and you can get to much in your pool which you can't reduce without changing water
Liquid chlorine is the best and just add sufficient stabiliser as required

If you're a new pool owner, then you should check out our smart monitor! You'd be able to check your pool's chemical levels via an app and it'd tell you what adjustments you'd need to make and how. Plus, we're accepting new beta testers! http://mysutro.com/pages/sutro-for-new-pool-owners
