Looking for some help here..... our pool filtering system does not have a multiport valve installed and therefore I cannot "vacuum to waste" or "back wash". We recently had an algal bloom, which resolved with a shock treatment however floculant was needed to get everything to settle on the bottom, which all happened nicely.
Now I have to find some way of removing it.
I cannot vacuum to waste and the cartridge filter doesn't seem to be able to filter out the sediment - it just keeps getting pumped back into the pool. So I am after suggestions. I am not a real DYI person and cannot really afford the expense of installing a multiport valve right now. Any other suggestions on how to create a silt trap in my skimmer box would be greatly appreciated, or any other ideas on how to remove the sediment?????
Thanks
Melissa

Can you rent a vac-to-waste pump?
After priming the pump and filling the hose you
can plug it in and should be able
to vacuum out the silt from the bottom of the pool.

There should be a bypass valve somewhere (which also allows you to discharge excess water.)
A photo of your piping would help.
