Copper Ionizer water purifiers

Postby ginby » Wed 15 Jun, 2011 19:33

I just installed a carefree clearwater ionizer but I can't get my water balanced so the ionizer doesn't seem to be working right. my water is green, ph is 7.8 and 60 alk. went to pool store to check water and was told to add 15 lbs of baking soda and add chlorine. after i did that, ph went up to 8 and alk to 120. i added dry acid 2 cups every 4 hrs and ph still high at 7.8 and water turning darker green. so i added calcium hypochlorite 20 oz to kill algae but PH went up again to 8 and alk is now at 80. which do i fix first, algae, ph or alk. i have used about 18 lbs of ph down for the past 5 days and still can't get my ph right. i also turned of the ionizer because it was reading at .5 ppm and should be at .3 ppm.
