Mosquito Larvae

Postby poolgirl22 » Wed 30 Aug, 2006 19:43

I just pulled back my pool cover today and found mosquito larvae swimming inside my above ground pool. I had this problem before and I ended up draining the pool.

Does anyone know how I can get rid of the larvae? I'm beyond frustrated that this is the second time that this has happened.

Mosquito Larvae are often found in "still bodies" of water. I.E....Bird bath, used car tires, pails or buckets of water. Im assuming your pool water is not being circulated.

Aggitating the water(pool pump) will keep this from happening. Draining your pool would be unneccessary as the filtration and skimmer should remove this for you.

PS: Home Depot sells a mosqito device that traps and kills mosquitos, its called the "Mosquito Magnet" and runs on propane (same as your bar-b-que grill. Very effective. (it takes about a week to kick-in)
