DE Filter Grids Damaged, DE is in pool, Is this safe for Children

Cracked my DE Filter Grids and Manifold duding a routine maintenance. The DE Media is returning back to pool and causing cloudy water. Is it safe for Children to swim in this (new born - 3 year olds)? I have ordered the replacement DE Filter parts but won't be here for another week and its 100 degree weather with Kids who love to swim daily.

DE is a lot of free silica dust so I wouldn't. I would have also ordered a sand filter and Dr Drydens AFM ng filter media. Saves a fortune over DE, more robust, much less mucky to deal with and lasts the lifetime of the pool without the need to change. Filters to 1 micron and even less with flocculent which you can use unlike DE.
Glass media has no free silica.
I may not give you the answer you want to hear, but I will give an honest opinion of your situation as you decribe it.
