Just replaced the liner on our in-ground vinyl pool. As it was filling, I took a well-water sample to the pool store for evaluation and to get chemicals to re-start. No chlorine in the water of course, but everything else was well within normal ranges, pH 7.6, etc. Iron and copper concentrations were so low they showed as zero on the printout, but the pool guy advised running 2 1/2 quarts of metal remover through the skimmer before adding any chlorine, and re-test the water on Monday.
I did as advised and within two hours my 26,000 gallons of crystal clear water had turned an ugly greenish brown. This is a reputable company that I've been dealing with for almost 30 years, but I'm afraid my new $6,000 liner may be stained up before we even get a chance to use it!
Any idea what caused this?
Anything I can do besides wait and take in another water sample?
Metal remover turned my water brown!
