Above ground pool/is the water safe?

I filled my above ground pool before I realized I was missing a part for the filter pump. My children and I have been in several times.....it has not yet been treated because I cannot use the pump. I just found out the piece I need won't be arriving for another 8 days. Is it OK to swim in the pool without filtering it? Should I go ahead and put some chlorine or shock in the pool without the filter? If so, how much? Can I use regular Chlorine Bleach since I have only tablets which normally fit inside my filters? Thanks for any help!
